Hello everyone!
I hope everyone has had a good week going into the weekend. I’ve been making all sorts of progress in my life including my writing life. Yes, I know, it’s hard to believe, but I am finally working on Heart Work!
We could break out the champagne, but then I might squirrel down a rabbit trail. I have managed to write two chapters as I turn this screenplay into a novel. It seems like a small number, but I promise, baby steps still lead to a finished manuscript. And these baby steps are adding up to completed pages, so I’m excited. I will hit my goal of being able to start self-editing in August, and then looking for an outside editor.
My goal is to have a version of the manuscript out to beta readers by October/November. This keeps us on track for an early 2022 release date. It’s hard to believe that the end of the year is only 5.5 months away! As I have been looking over the deadlines for Heart Work, everything felt so far away in June, and suddenly in July, I feel like I’m running a marathon to get the manuscript completed. Fortunately, I have six weeks off from my masters program, and it has been a blessing. Having this time off has allowed me to make progress on so many things.
I was able to sort through all of the piles of papers and mail I had strewed about my tiny house. I was able to get the reflective insulation stapled to the studs and am preparing to put up drywall and install the flooring. The shelving system I picked up from IKEA can finally be taken out of my storage unit, painted, and installed in my house. Watching everything come together, being able to organize and put things in the proper place, it has been so helpful and motivating. I know where things are, I can focus on writing because I’m not focused on figuring out a place for my clean laundry. Things are coming together, and it’s nice to feel like I can breath again, and will one day complete this project.
I have been trying to post my progress on my social media accounts. I promise to be more active on my platforms and to post more pics of my writer’s space coming together.
Well, I’m off to write more pages. Have a great weekend, stay cool, and be safe!
