Hello everyone!
A few weeks ago, my son and I were having a Mom and Me day when our Mini Cooper started having troubles. Long story short, it was the ignition coils. I ordered the parts, had to wait for them to come in, and then my son and I installed them. I started the car and everything has been working well.
I’m midway through my Fall I classes, and am enjoying learning more about writers and how they write. We have spent a few weeks studying different writers, but our most recent study is Ann Leckie. She is a humorous sci-fi writer, and is a wealth of ideas and advice for those starting out in the literary world.
A quick update on Heart Work. Edits have been slower as I focus on my classes. I have an academic essay due in one of my classes, and then need to submit my peer review in my writing group due in another class. That being said, the book is still on track to be released on time at the beginning of 2022. There are built in pockets of time in the timeline taking in account my class schedule, and other obligations and responsibilities.
I have decided I will begin working on The Queen’s Men after I have completed the edits to Heart Work and send them off again. I had originally released The Queen’s Men as a weekly post over the course of a few months a few years back. Once I decided to re-write it using the original manuscript, I’ll pulled down those original posts. I posted the 15th or 16th re-write after I had finished the book. Truth be told, I hated it. The book worked how it was, but I had moved so far away from my original premise for it, that I was deeply dissatisfied.
I couldn’t figure out where my dissatisfaction stemmed from, so I pulled down the chapters. Focused on Heart Work, and knew one day I would figure out why it displeased me. Then a few months ago, I was discussing events we could plan for the museum. One of these ideas was a tea party. And as I was discussing a possible menu, it hit me. A lightbulb went off, and I knew what was wrong with The Queen’s Men. I have spent the past few months researching and outlining in anticipation of being able to pounce on this once Heart Work is finished.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
